John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, had a question he asked each member of his small group: “How is it with your soul?” As each member answered, they shared how God was moving in their life, the struggles and successes of their week, how they were staying spiritually connected. We encourage Journey Groups to choose a question as a springboard for each member’s sharing during the first 45 minutes of the group.
How is it with your soul?
Where have you seen God?
What are you grateful for?
What have been your thorns (rough patches) and your roses (high points)?
(You might also add “buds” — things you’re looking forward to.
